Description:

Verifies the accuracy of incoming and outgoing shipments and orders. Compares identifying information with bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records. Verifies that materials received are as ordered. May route incoming items within the company as directed. May utilize hand trucks, forklifts, hoists, conveyors or other handling equipment to move material to and from and within the facility. May adapt procedures, processes, tools, equipment, and techniques to meet the more complex requirements of the position. Duties and tasks are frequently nonroutine. Resolves most questions and problems and refers only the most complex issues to higher levels. Works under minimal supervision. May assist in orienting and training lower-level employees as needed in regards to shipping.

Responsibilities:

  • Load and unload product correctly using the appropriate handling techniques and record any data as necessary
  • Verify the driver, trailer, and bills are all for that specific carrier and location.
  • Review freight with the driver and ensures all customer requirements are followed
  • To ensure that any shortages/ overages or damaged items are reported to management promptly
  • Perform duties such as removing, cleaning or repackaging product once it has been received into the system
  • Prepare product correctly (labeled, over-packed, palletized, shrink-wrapped, stacked appropriately, etc.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records
  • Work with attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
  • Process shipments with FedEx, UPS or other logistics companies
  • Work in a constant state of alertness, especially involving moving vehicles

Qualifications:

Experience and Skill Required

  • High school or GED. In lieu of diploma, relevant experience for shipping is required.
  • 1 year with UPS/Fed Ex/International shipping and receiving experience – preferred
  • Proficiency with MS Office - preferred
  • High Level verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to operate lift equipment
  • High Level verbal and written communication skills
  • High school level math skills
  • Ability to operate lift equipment
