Description

The Product Manager, Personalization & Recommendation AI is responsible for defining and evolving the AI-driven personalization and content discovery experiences across Hearst Magazines' diverse digital touchpoints. You will own the product strategy and roadmap for recommendation engines, personalized content feeds, and other intelligent features that make our user experiences uniquely relevant, engaging, and valuable.

Key Responsibilities(What are you doing)

  • Develop and execute the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for personalization and recommendation AI capabilities.
  • Define and prioritize product requirements, user stories, and success metrics for new features and enhancements.
  • Collaborate closely with data scientists, machine learning engineers, and software engineers to design, build, test, and iterate on personalization models and product integrations.
  • Work with UX designers and researchers to ensure personalized experiences are intuitive, delightful, and meet user needs.
  • Partner with Product Managers across different brand and platform teams to integrate personalization capabilities effectively into their respective products.
  • Continuously monitor and analyze the performance of personalization features, using data to drive improvements and identify new opportunities.
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging technologies in personalization, recommendations, and user modeling.
  • Champion a user-centric and data-driven approach to product development.

Qualifications (What We’re Looking For)

  • 5+ years of product management experience, with a significant focus on personalization, recommendation systems, or AI/ML-driven user-facing features.
  • Proven experience launching and iterating on products that leverage machine learning models to drive user engagement.
  • Strong understanding of personalization techniques, recommendation algorithms, A/B testing, and user segmentation.
  • Experience working closely with data science and engineering teams in an agile environment.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to use data to inform decisions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, HCI) or equivalent practical experience.
  • Preferred experience in the media, publishing, or digital content industry.
  • Preferred familiarity with specific machine learning concepts and evaluation metrics relevant to recommendations.
  • Preferred ability to translate complex technical ideas into clear product requirements.
  • Preferred strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • This is a hybrid position based in New York City, with an in-office requirement of four days per week.

The base salary for this role is between $133,000 - $161,000. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as: transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
