JOB SUMMARY:
Manages safety and laboratory compliance for agricultural research station. Provides data management and administrative support to scientists conducting research at Edisto REC. Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
45% - Essential - Safety and Compliance: Department safety coordinator, main administration building security coordinator, greenhouse safety and chair of EREC safety committee. Provides oversight of safety and compliance as outlined by university policy including updating SDS files, purchasing and maintaining supplies for safe handling of chemicals, conducting safety and compliance training. Maintains and promotes a safe work environment and assists with chemical safety and compliance issues. Coordinates with Research safety for programs and services.
35% - Essential - Workplace health and safety: Develops and implements procedures and training related to compliance with applicable regulations for health and safety. Creates related manuals, documents, standard operating procedures, and maintains applicable records. Uses appropriate outlets to effectively communicate safety procedures. Effectually communicates employee responsibilities associated with health and safety compliance regulations. Sends safety notifications as needed.
10% - Essential - Operations: Coordinates with EREC projects and departments on safety programs, facilities. training, and equipment monitoring and service. Maintains functional operation and timely data compilation from weather stations and other equipment as required.
10% - Essential - Reporting: Keeps records on trainings, hazardous waste, equipment certifications required inspections, and permits related to EHS. Works with faculty on administering and reporting requirements in SciShield and completes annual REC inspection documentation.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education - High School or Equivalent - Experience in environmental health programs or radiological health. A bachelor's degree in the natural or physical sciences, mathematics, public health, engineering or a related technical field may be substituted for the required work experience.

Education - 1st Bachelor's Degree - Natural or physical sciences, mathematics, public health, engineering or a related technical field.
Certifications/Licenses - South Carolina Pesticide Applicator License

COMPENSATION INFORMATION
Anticipated Salary Range: $39,800 - $50,000
Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

Essential Level 2 employee
Required to maintain/resume essential support functions, deliver direct care services, and/or provide recovery support before normal operations resume. Some positions in this category may be required to work remotely or be on-call.
