We are looking for a talented Sourcing Team Manager to join our team specializing in Purchasing for our Cummins location Troy, MI.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Cost Reduction and Risk Minimization : Implement sourcing and procurement strategies that reduce costs, minimize risks, and optimize business processes.
  • Demand and Capacity Management : Help businesses manage demand and supplier capacity while building strong relationships with key suppliers.
  • Team Leadership : Lead regional, category commodity, and new product sourcing procurement teams to achieve strategic goals.
  • Strategic Alignment : Ensure sourcing procurement strategies align with business unit and supply chain objectives.
  • Support for New Developments : Engage with new product/technology development functions and support new plant startups, identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Validation of Activities : Validate the sourcing and contract activities of your teams to ensure compliance and effectiveness.
  • Total Cost Reduction : Drive total cost of ownership (TCO) reductions across the entire supply chain.
  • Target Achievement : Establish procurement targets and oversee your teams’ performance to meet or exceed these goals.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify, plan, and implement supply chain enhancements to boost efficiency and performance.
  • Supplier Partnerships: Build strong, competitive supplier relationships and serve as the primary contact for issue resolution.
  • Contract Negotiation: Lead complex supplier selection processes and negotiations to secure favorable contracts and outcomes.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Supply Base Risk Mitigation : Develop sourcing strategies to minimize inbound supply risk and execute strategies to avoid production line disruption.
  • Sourcing: Master the purchasing functional system to streamline the Request for Quote (RFQ) process. Develop a comprehensive TCO comparison of suppliers, ensuring alignment with the category strategy. Identify suppliers that best meet Cummins’ and customers’ needs based on your TCO analysis.
  • Supplier Contract Development : Use available templates to draft contracts that cover both commercial and legal aspects. Ensure all commercial and regional legal requirements are included in the contracts. Facilitate engagement between stakeholders through the Supplier Agreement Contracting Process (SACP) and apply your negotiation skills to drive successful outcomes.
  • Supplier Relationship Management : Define and manage relationships with key/strategic suppliers using the Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) process. Establish a work plan, conduct senior sponsor meetings, and use scorecards to manage supplier performance. Foster a collaborative relationship with key suppliers to deliver mutual value.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

College, university, or equivalent degree in field appropriate for the function required.

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience:

Significant level of relevant work experience required

QUALIFICATIONS

Onsite role requiring at least 3 days per week in the office.
