What's the job?
The RPG Health & Safety Director provides enterprise-wide Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) leadership across 16–20 roofing manufacturing facilities. This role exists to ensure Safety is embedded as a true Core Value by strengthening site EHS leadership, establishing clear expectations and accountability, and driving consistent, proactive safety programs across the business.
As a senior leader, you will set the strategic direction for EHS, elevate site-level capability, and reduce operational and regulatory risk while advancing the organization toward a zero-incident culture.
What you will do:
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing network of site EHS leaders who are trusted partners to operations
- Establish clear safety priorities, non-negotiables, and performance standards across all sites
- Drive year-over-year improvement in leading and lagging safety indicators
- Ensure consistent implementation and maturity of safety management systems and H&S Pillar practices
- Verify compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements through audits, site visits, and reviews
- Serve as an escalation point to resolve barriers impacting site safety performance
- Analyze trends, lead continuous improvement initiatives, and address systemic issues across multiple locations
- Partner closely with Plant Managers and Operations leaders to integrate safety into production planning, capital projects, and daily decision-making
- Lead incident investigation quality, root cause analysis, and corrective action effectiveness
- Manage and develop direct reports while providing indirect leadership to all RPG site EHS teams
- This role directly supervises two leaders and provides indirect leadership to EHS professionals across all RPG sites, with approximately 50% domestic travel.

What do you bring?
You are a seasoned EHS leader who combines strong technical expertise with the ability to influence, coach, and drive change across complex manufacturing operations.
Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
- 10+ years of progressive EHS experience in manufacturing or industrial environments
- 5+ years of experience leading or managing EHS professionals
- 3+ years of multi-site EHS responsibility
- Demonstrated success building and sustaining high-performing EHS teams
- Proven ability to influence operations leaders and create accountability at all levels
- Strong working knowledge of safety management systems and regulatory compliance
- Comfort operating in fast-paced, operationally intensive environments
- Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, or PE
- Experience with machinery safety lifecycle management and management of change
- Experience partnering with unionized manufacturing environments

We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer potential candidates. Provided is the national pay range for this position which is $133,000 to $213,000 per year. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 17% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $155,610-TTC to $249,210-TTC. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.
