Saint-Gobain Life Sciences is seeking an experienced Production Supervisor on 2nd Shift to join our team in Akron, OH. The ideal candidate will oversee day-to-day operations in our extrusion department, while supporting compounding, material handling, and maintenance teams to ensure the achievement of facility and corporate objectives. This role requires strong leadership, operational expertise, and exceptional communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Production Supervisor, you will:
- Monitor and manage performance indicators related to production, quality, safety, and budget variances (40%).
- Lead personnel activities, including employee selection, training, skill assessment, overtime coordination, and discipline (30%).
- Ensure safety awareness: Promote and enforce safe work practices and compliance with company policies and procedures (10%).
- Drive continuous improvement by leading and prioritizing Lean, Six Sigma, and World-Class Manufacturing (WCM) projects (10%).
- Resolve manufacturing challenges: Provide technical support to prevent and address production and operational issues (10%).
IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?
Education:
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field.
Experience:
- Required: 1-5 years of supervisory experience, preferably in a unionized environment.
Skills:
- Strong computer skills (MS Office, production reporting, MRP systems, Kronos/UKG Timekeeping).
- Continuous improvement expertise (LEAN, Six Sigma, WCM).
- Excellent mathematical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to read schedules and metrics and act accordingly.
Leadership & Communication:
- Proven ability to adapt to change and lead teams with a positive and directive approach.
- Demonstrated capacity to build trust and empower employees.
- Strong collaboration and transparent communication skills.
