Senior Lecturer - Environmental Engineering The Department of Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences (EEES)

at Clemson University invites applications to fill a full-time, non-tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Senior Lecturer with an anticipated start date of Fall 2026. The position will be appointed with a one-year contract, renewable annually. Primary duties include teaching up to three courses, or equivalent, per semester and actively contributing to the undergraduate teaching mission of the Environmental Engineering program. The Department is part of the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences (SCEEES) which is home to >60 faculty and supports approximately >550 undergraduate and >170 graduate students annually. The Department has been an important part of Clemson University for over fifty years and is nationally ranked among top graduate programs in Environmental Engineering. The Department offers three undergraduate degrees (BS in Environmental Engineering, BS in Biosystems Engineering, and BS in Geology) and five graduate degrees. The BS Environmental Engineering program has seen total enrollment of 70-100 students over the last 10 years. The Department is housed within modern research and education facilities at Clemson University, a public land-grant institution currently ranked among the top 30 national public universities by U.S. News and World Report and as a Tier 1 Research Institution by the Carnegie Foundation. The campus is located in the scenic foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains between Atlanta, GA, and Charlotte, NC in upstate South Carolina. Qualifications

The successful candidate must possess a Ph.D. degree in Environmental Engineering or related field with at least 3 years of teaching experience or an M.S. degree in Environmental Engineering or related field with at least 5 years of teaching experience. The candidate must have a passion for teaching and communication skills to motivate 30 to 40 students per class in a dynamic, interactive environment with an ability to engage students to effectively learn in both traditional and remote environments using virtual technology platforms. The successful applicant will be primarily responsible for teaching courses in Environmental Engineering in the undergraduate program. Highly desirable candidates will have expertise and interest in teaching in the broad subject areas of water and wastewater treatment, air pollution, environmental chemistry, hazardous and municipal solid wastes, environmental sustainability, remediation of polluted sites, groundwater modeling, risk assessment, or nuclear environmental engineering. Preferred qualifications include industry experience in environmental consulting, remediation technologies, waste management, air quality management, or related fields, and a demonstrated record in engineering pedagogy. The successful candidate is also expected to foster a vibrant teaching portfolio in environmental engineering courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels and engage and prepare students for successful and impactful careers in industry, government, or academia. While the primary responsibility for the position would be teaching, candidates with the desire to engage in their own research and with students would be given higher priority.
