JOB SUMMARY:
The Mental Health Counselor position within the Peeler College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) will provide clinical counseling services to students in the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree program. The counselor will also lead the well-being initiatives within the college to help veterinary students thrive during their degree program. Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
50% - Essential - Clinical Services:
Provides clinical services to CVM students in individual and tele-mental health format. Conducts mental health assessments and generates/implements treatment plans from evidence-based approaches.Provides crisis intervention and emergency services on-site and through on-call CAPS system. Utilizes assessment instruments as indicated by the presenting problem.
25% - Essential - Administrative Duties:
Completes all necessary documentation to assist clients and as required by CAPS in compliance with documentation timelines using the appropriate electronic health record system. Completes all Redfern Health Center Mandatory training. Supports data collection efforts for all program evaluation efforts. Participates in accreditation activities as assigned.
20% - Essential - Programmatic Support:
Supports the CVM Office of Academic Affairs in development and implementation of well-being initiatives within the college. In conjunction with CVM faculty and staff, provides curricular and extracurricular information sessions on student well-being. Collaborates with faculty and staff within the college to ensure students' needs are met.
5% - Essential - Professional Development:
Maintains Masters' level license. Participates in professional conferences and conventions at the local, regional, and national levels. At all times, adheres to American Psychological Association's (APA) Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Ethics as well as American Counseling Association's Code of Ethics. Adheres to Joint Commission accreditation standards and supports maintenance of APA accreditation. Participates in CVM Committees.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education - Master's Degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences or a related field
Work Exp 3+ years of professional experience in a human services or social services program
License-eligible in the State of South Carolina

No Supervisory Duties - Not responsible for supervising employees.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION
Exoected Salary Range ($ 57,334.00 - $ 85,000.00)
Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.
ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL
Essential Level 1 employee
Required to respond during an emergency closure or modified operations in order to provide the University's initial response to the emergency situation, including the execution of mission essential functions. Some positions in this category may be required to work remotely or be on-call.
