We are searching for an Undergraduate student to join the Quantum Research Department of the Communications, Information and Navigation Office (CINO) at the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State University.
The student will help build our new experiment regarding quantum frequency conversion in heterogeneous quantum networks. This experiment requires pressurized hydrogen gas and as such, we seek an individual who is comfortable with hands on work. The student will follow the piping schematic and assemble portions of the experiments. The end goal of this project is to connect to our already-existing entangled photon optical experiment and perform quantum frequency conversion.
Preferred Skills:
- Mechanically inclined or the ability to learn and be comfortable trying new things.
- Knowledge of MATLAB
- Some background in quantum mechanics
- Ability to take data in an organized fashion and write a report about their results.
Your working location will be predominantly on-site at our lab in Innovation Park, State College, PA. Periodic travel may also be required for attendance at program meetings and/or in support of field testing or exercises.
