The primary purpose of the Resident Aide is to assist the Nursing staff in performing non-technical assigned tasks.

  • Assist in resident transports throughout the facility and to and from medical appointments as assigned
  • Assist in passing fluids and nourishment to residents after completing appropriate in-servicing under guidance of the LPN/Charge Nurse
  • Assist the nursing staff in performing tasks as assigned such as bed-making for empty beds only, straightening linens, cleaning closets and bedside tables, answer call lights and resident’s alarms
  • Attend facility offered feeding assistant course as scheduled (expected competency to assist feeding residents as assigned)
  • All other non-technical duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing, Nurse Supervisor or Nurse Care Coordinator
  • Attend all required in-services and follow all department and facility policies and procedures including the use of personal protective equipment
  • Maintain CONFIDENTIALITY of all resident care and employee information and follow HIPAA and HIV regulations

Physical Requirements:

  • Light work: exerting up to 20 lbs of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg control requires exertion of forces greater than that of sedentary work and if the worker sits most of the time, the job is considered light work.
  • Occasional balancing, crouching, typing/clerical/dexterity, kneeling, lifting, pulling, seeing/monitor/computer use, stooping
  • Frequent grasping, hearing, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, standing, talking, visual acuity (color, depth, perception), walking
  • Constant fit testing

Hazards:

  • Occasional: bodily fluids/bloodborne exposure

Working Conditions:

  • Occasional noise and odors

Travel:

  • Occasional Travel - The job may require travel from time-to-time, but not on a regular basis
