Have you ever thought about a fulfilling career in healthcare but did not have the training or certification needed? A.O. Fox Hospital Nursing Home is offering a PAID Certified Nursing Aide (C.N.A.) Training Program. Upon successful completion the of the program and obtaining your NYS certification, candidates will be offered full time position in the Nursing Home.
Pay rate: $16.00 per hour
Class starts January 2026

- Support the philosophy and objectives of the Nursing Home and the Nursing Department in performance of care as a member of the team
- Provides care to residents assigned solely under the supervision of the NATP Coordinator/Clinical Supervisor, who will oversee the NA Trainee skills and evaluate his/her performance
- Assist in maintenance of care standards
- Carry out assigned tasks in the admission of the resident to new environment and give care as directed
- Contribute to resident teaching by performance of procedures as instructed and observe new procedures
- Recognize and report to charge nurse signs and symptoms denoting change in resident’s condition
- Acknowledge resident’s request and provide the requested service or relay the request to another more appropriate staff member
- Discuss concerns of performance concerning nursing care with charge nurse
- Treat residents and co-workers with dignity and respect
- Participate in In-service programs, resident care conferences and staff meetings as assigned
- Assist in maintenance of environment conducive to providing quality care
- Assist in observing effectiveness of care as assigned
- Assist in maintenance of a system for communication for nursing information for each resident:
- Participate in nursing reports and daily conferences by reporting nursing care data to nurse in charge
- Use CNA Kardex Comprehensive Care Plan in carrying out assignment
- Follow written assignments to provide appropriate care
- Understand the functions of the other persons involved in care of resident
- Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information
- Document care provided timely and accurately
- Foster a cooperative effort among other staff members in all departments
- Transport residents to other departments as needs arise
- Understand functions of other staff members
- Respect individual for ability, knowledge and skills
- Utilize opportunities to promote better understanding of working relationships when in contact with residents, families, visitors, Nursing personnel, Medical staff and other health disciplines
- Support Personnel policies
- Recommend changes to nurse in charge
- Assume responsibility to keep self-informed
- Report any personnel problems to charge nurse
- Support new Nursing Home programs and policies
- May be required to perform other related duties, as needed
- Follow established Infection Control procedures
- Attend all required in-services and follow all department and facility policies and procedures including the use of personal protective equipment
- Maintain CONFIDENTIALITY of all pertinent resident care and employee information and follow HIPAA and HIV regulations
Qualifications:
Education:
- High school graduate or equivalent, preferred

- Previous long term care experience, preferred

Physical Requirements:
- Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 lbs. for force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects
- Occasional balancing, climbing, crouching, typing/clerical/dexterity, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, seeing/monitor/computer use, stooping
- Frequent grasping, hearing, reaching, repetitive motion, standing, talking, visual acuity (color, depth, perception), walking
- Constant fit testing
